1995 Gamay VDP de Collines Rhodanienne, Caves St-Desirat

This was from grapes grown by a friend of mine, from a vineyard situated near the St-Desirat co-op. Apparently the soil is terre blanche, and it shows; the wine is quite light and crisp, with a forward strawberry fruitiness. Snappy acidity, no real complexity, but a lovely suck-down with some lasagna. Who woulda thunk it?
