1985 La Roquette Chateauneuf-du-Pape
One of the last pre-Brunier bottlings and one that I had never had before. The initial rush was the characteristic spicy-fruitcake that I get from well-turned grenache. With a few minutes to stretch its legs, the Rocket showed itself to be an elegant wine with plenty of stuffing. The interesting feature here was a distinct stony-mineral character, especially noticeable in the finish.
