1994 Eymael Urziger Wurtzgarten Spatlese

Monday, January 26th, 2009

When this was first released, it was a delightful strawberry cream pie. Though it’s still beautifully light in color (almost green), it’s starting to show the floral complexity and a touch of the petroleum that a mature riesling ought to have. More than a little off-dry, bright acidity, light and deft. Yum.

1997 Unionville “Windfall” Riesling

New Jersey’s finest. Heavy, compared to the Eymael, but intense and well-balanced. Off-dry and quite acidic. Great with egg rolls.
